中西文化对翻译的影响

很容易发现文化差异对语言的影响无所不在,又是翻译活动的基础,在翻译过程中,文化差异对翻译的准确性有着极大的影响。

It is easy to find that the influences of the cultural differences in language are ubiquitous, and they are the foundation of the translation. In the course of translating, cultural differences have a great influence for the accuracy on the translation.

通过比较中西文化的差异,本文得出中西差异本质上是文化差异,而翻译与文化有着血肉联系,翻译之难就在于跨越文化的障碍。

Comparing to cultural differences between China and West, this paper concludes that the essence of the differences between China and West are the cultural differences, and translation and culture are closely related to each other, so the difficulty of translating lies in transcending cultural barriers.

美国外语教学专家Winston Brembreck说，“采用只教语言不教文化的教学方法,只能培养出语言流利的大傻瓜。”因此,不但要学语言,还要学语言文化,包括交际模式、习俗、价值观、思维方式及处世态度,才能真正掌握交际工具———语言,并使语言成为真正的交际工具。

Winston Brembreck, the American English teaching expert, said “If applying the teaching method of teaching language only, not culture, it can only culture the big fools with fluent English ” So we should learn not only language, but also the language culture including the communication pattern, the custom, the values perspective, the thinking patterns and social standards, in this way can we really master the tool of communication——language and make the language the real tool of communication.

翻译也是如此,译者不能刻意追求词句的等值,拘泥于字面意义,要力求把字里行间的深层涵义与文化的真正涵义传达出来。

This is also the same with the translating, the translators should not carefully cultivate the equivalence of words and sentences, and adhere to the literal meanings, they must aim at communicating the deep implications between the lines and the real implications of the culture.
